Adapted from Turkish writer Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's 1911 novel, "The Fickle" centers on Meftun, a spoiled young man who, after squandering his student years as a flâneur in Paris, returns to İstanbul. Eyeing Edibe, the daughter of his wealthy neighbor Kasım, Meftun devises a plan to secure the lavish lifestyle he craves by spreading a rumor that he has won the lottery. Though he marries Edibe, his miserly father-in-law withholds the fortune, forcing Meftun to enlist his brother-in-law Mahir as an accomplice in his schemes.
