Nicknamed "The Nightingale of the Orient" following his meeting with Atatürk at the Dolmabahçe Palace, Celal Güzelses was a pioneering figure in the folk music of Türkiye. A renowned vocal artist and dengbej—a traditional Kurdish singer and storyteller—Güzelses co-founded the Folk Music Society of Diyarbakır in 1943. This concert, featuring songs from Turkish folk and classical music, was held in memory of the late artist on the 63rd anniversary of his death.
