Like a Dream: Istanbul

The Pakistani Quadri and Mexican Bolio families are invited to an extraordinary vacation in İstanbul. On their first day, they sail on a luxury yacht, marveling at the magnificent buildings along the Bosphorus and savoring delicious traditional Turkish food.

The families participate in a photography contest, with the winner to be chosen by world-renowned Turkish photographer İzzet Keribar. In the evening, they are invited by businesswoman Demet Sabancı of the Sabancı family to an extraordinary dinner at the Zarif Mustafa Pasha Yalı.

Continuing their excursions on the European side of Istanbul, the families delve into Sufi culture. They also explore the enchanting corridors of the Pera Palas Hotel, where they sample dishes once enjoyed by illustrious guests of the previous century in the evening, including Atatürk, Agatha Christie, Ernest Hemingway, and Elizabeth II.

The families visit the Rahmi Koç Museum to explore old land and sea vehicles. They then compete in a rowing competition in the famous Golden Horn. Their day concludes at the Atatürk Cultural Center, where they learn Turkish folkloric dances and enjoy a spectacular performance by the Anatolian Fire Ensemble.

The families explore the wonders of İstanbul's historic district, marveling at the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire in the Topkapı Palace and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, while the Hagia Sophia stands as a testament to the Byzantine era. They engage in a fun competition in the Grand Bazaar before concluding the day with a surprise during dinner that is sure to "sweep them off their feet."

The families set sail for the enchanting İstanbul Islands, beginning their journey with a friendly fishing competition. The winning team receives a valuable gift, while the losing team must perform a “playful punishment” as part of the fun before reaching St. George's Cathedral.

The day begins with a backgammon competition between the parents. They are then surprised by a visit from a famous Turkish star, who takes them on a backstage tour of a popular series and introduces them to the stars of the Turkish drama. The day concludes with a special party inside the Basilica Cistern.

The families' day begins with a hearty Turkish breakfast under the guidance of Turkish gastronomy writer Ebru Erke. They then receive a visit from celebrity chef Necati Yilmaz, who takes them on an exciting journey through the secrets of Turkish cuisine. The day concludes with a race to enjoy a sumptuous Ottoman dinner experience at Deraliye Restaurant, with a breathtaking view of the Istanbul skyline.

The two families reminisce about their extraordinary trip to İstanbul, reflecting on the pleasant surprises and the warm atmosphere that enveloped them. They leave with a treasure trove of joyful moments and unique experiences that will remain etched in their memories.
