General Audience

Words carry layers of meaning—history, emotion, culture, and societal context—shaping how we communicate and perceive the world. They also serve as metaphors, growing beyond their definitions when simple meanings fall short. This program, hosted by academic and writer Yurdagül Mehmedoğlu, explores the metaphors and deeper connotations of everyday words like home, path, tree, water, wound, darkness, season, and more, revealing how they connect us to universal themes and evoke powerful imagery. Through these words, we gain insight into human experience, showing how language can transcend mere description and touch the profound.
